Blue Fairy Flicker?
by Heather
One night I was chatting with a friend on my computer and from the corner of my eye, near the mirror that's attached to my door, I saw a blue flicker...almost like a blue spark. Could it have been a fairy, or a portal that a fairy used?
Thank you for answering. Forever a believer.
Ophelia Fey says -- Heather, what you saw may very well have been a fairy. Fairies, as I've mentioned before, flicker in and out of your Seen world in seconds. And it so happens that blue is a common fairy color. Since we emanate light, when we move quickly the mere activity, like a friction with the air, can cause a slight spark. This is often observed by mortals. I have captured an image for you here. But don't worry, these sparks are not the kind that could cause your kind of fire.
Plus, fairies are fascinated by mirrors. Our forms are not generally reflected (although certain types of fairies do know how to densify their bodies and so would have something more substantial to reflect).
However, our lights are often caught in the mirror image and it is quite alluring to us to see our lights reflected so. And then, of course, we can fly right through or into a mirror and enter it. Mostly nothing is there. Just the wall or a door, which we also end up flying through. Sometimes into a smelly and disorderly cupboard or closet. Or room. As you might say, Gross.
On the other hand, especially in old, historic homes and buildings, or those near particular areas in nature, we fly through a mirror -- and lo and behold, we are in another dimension. Sometimes our own. Sometimes one that is unfamiliar. Which is startling to us, so we quickly exit. So the mirror has been, as you say, a sort of portal.
If you suspect a fairy is fascinated by your mirror and is visiting, make sure to keep it tidy nearby and the mirror clean (unless you don't mind untidy, disorganized and confusing fairies -- but they wouldn't be of much help to you). And you can always read the page on How To Attract Faeries -- if you haven't already.
