Child Fairies

by Carrie
(New York)

What are child fairies like? Do their children start out as babies like humans do, then grow and develop over time like us?

Ophelia Fey says -- I am asked a lot about fairy babies, fairy children, and so forth. So I will explain a little about us now, answering several of these questions here.

As I’ve mentioned, we do not exactly have the same kinds of bodies as you do, so we are born and develop a little differently -- and this all depends too on what types of fairies we are. I am assuming you mean the traditional type of nature spirit that humans commonly call “fairies.” These would be of the earth element.

Nature spirits follow the ways of nature, and nature has a variety of ways as you know. The animal and plant kingdoms, for instance, are very different. Some of your species require certain mating, fertilizing or pollinating processes. And may require male and female (or not). And within that, fish are quite different than birds or mammals in the way they bring forth offspring. Thus it is in Faerie. We do have what we call our young, our children. But we do not all necessarily bring them forth in the same manner, nor necessarily like you do.

Depending on the kind of fae, child fairies may spring forth in different ways. Some may develop along with the plant life they are attached to, along with the seedlings of the plant. They will gestate as the plant does, then mature or “bloom” you might say, when the plant does. But instead of opening from a bud into a rose, it may open from a bud into a fae. This is a very remarkable process, and takes place in the dimension of Faerie, except under certain circumstances. Others may be born from a more traditional process, yet not altogether like yours.

The young will look young, as the young in nature do. They will develop at different rates depending on who and what they are. Someone had also asked me if fairy babies have wings. If child fairies are of the type that emit energy streams (and can look to humans as if they were wings), then yes, they will have them as babies. As I’ve mentioned, our wings (streams of energy that carry us along) do not necessarily look like those of the butterfly of dragonfly! Although some of us do design them as such if we care to, being that we like to mimic. But unless a fae child’s mother does this, the child will have very simple “wings.” And like all things in nature, it will take a bit of time to mature and move, walk, fly, etc.

Child fairies also are taught by their mothers (usually) and community, all the skills they need for the purpose for which they are created. We are very attentive, caring and protective toward our young. So I will not give out a lot of secrets here. There is, though, plenty of time to frolic and play, as all young like to do. In Faerie we do not follow the same Time that you do, and so it varies how long childhood lasts. That also depends on what and who the child is, and what its purpose is.

This is a brief description of fairy babies and fairy children, for those of the earth element. Keep in mind, types of fae folk are many. And what you call elves or gnomes are quite different than fairies. And then there is the matter of beings from other elements such as water. They have an entirely different way of life of course. It is all very detailed and way too much to go into here on one page. It’s really an entire book.

SEEING CHILDREN FAIRYS
by: FELICIA

CAN YOU SEE CHILDREN EASIER THAN GROWN-UP FAIRYS?
I APPRECIATE YOUR ANSWER.

[Ophelia Fey says] - Hello Felicia. It does not matter whether a being of nature (fairy) is young or more mature as to whether you can see it. The ability to See is within you, and that ability usually must be nurtured and developed. And that takes time and practice. You will learn more about this as you read the web site. Being able to See a fairy quite often has nothing to do with the fairy.
