Cottingley Faeries
Cottingly Faeries photograph
Ophelia-
I am assuming that you have hear the tales of the Cottingley Fairies. In your opinion, did Frances Griffiths and Elsie Wright actually capture fairies on film? What is your opinion on the fifth photograph (which appears to be the one considered to be genuine)?
Ophelia says -- As far as fairies are concerned, the Cottingley Fairy photographs are not authentic. That is not to say the cousins did not see fairies. They did. They so yearned to share what they saw with others and to try to make people believe, that they devised a rather cute little series of photographs to "prove" it. Photography was not as sophisticated then as it is now, of course. And so what people saw at that time seemed quite remarkable. Nowadays it is more clear that the photographs were not authentic. Including the fifth photograph.
However their fantastical photographs do not disprove fairies in any way. Those of us in Faerie who knew the girls (I myself did not meet them) are honored to this day that they made such an attempt. Many who truly believe need no proof beyond their own experience and inner knowing. However, it would ever so lovely should mortals be able to develop a camera to catch us on film. It would have to be able to capture a very high frequency and speed, however.
Even so, there are those who will never believe. They live only through the limitations of their five human senses. And so are missing most of Life. So never mind about them. Continue to seek.
