Faerie Christmas

Every Christmas I feel like someone is watching me open my presents. I also feel like someone's missing, even though everybody I know is there. I believe they are faeries, and I believe they wish they had Christmas. Is it possible to invite them to your Christmas, or do they have their own? What kind of Christmas present would they want? Do they make their own wish list?
Ophelia Fey says -- Catherine, I have had several questions about faeries and holidays, especially a Faerie Christmas.
In the realm of Faerie itself, we follow the cycles of nature, so we would celebrate the turn of seasons, among other things. This also differs in various areas of our world, since we have many bands and clans, as do you.
Technically, Christmas is a Christian religious holiday. We do not exactly follow the same religious traditions in Faerie as you do in your world, as our connection to Spirit is quite different. And remember, many fae do not have much contact with humankind and are unaware of your celebrations.
But for those of us that do, we are interested in all traditions and festivities, and many of us are interested in Christmas as well. Such fairies might get together and have a little party of their own, as sort of a faerie Christmas I suppose you could say. But mostly they like to join in with mortals, although probably unseen, since this is mostly a mortal holiday. Some fae get so excited about Christmas time, in fact, that they go quite "all out" with it. (This is especially due to an increase of the Peace On Earth awareness). They like to be known during this time as Christmas fairies (or faeries). And they particularly enjoy associating with those in fae who call themselves "Christmas elves" -- but not for quite the same reason as you may think. That is another story for another page.
I am going to be writing a separate page all about Christmas fairies to explain further. And yes, you may certainly invite them to your Christmas. Some may already be attending, but unless you see into our dimension, you would not know. They are happy just to be around the music and lights and smells and warmth and chatter and laughter. And trees (which we like to tuck into and hide). And treats. So many things. If you do any holiday baking, we may have eaten a crumb or two. As for a Christmas list, we don't exactly make a list. Although there may be special wishes in mind. We do have gift giving, but we often leave it up to others to choose the gift and surprise us. Fairies adore surprises.
