Faerie Language

by Lisa
(Ireland)

Do the faeries speak Sylvan? Is there a way to learn the faerie language?

Ophelia Fey says -- Hello Lisa. I'm not sure what you mean by Sylvan - mortals have many names for things that I am not sure about. We do not call our own language "Sylvan," if that is what you mean.

It would be very difficult for you to learn the real faerie language, since it is spoken in a frequency that you do not hear, and with sounds you are not familiar with and would be almost impossible to teach. But some of us who move through the veil and associate with mortals, have learned your ways and language.

And should a mortal wander into Faerie, it might be possible to learn a bit of our language. But spoken words are not really necessary, as we can also communicate through the mind, you might say. It is a different type of communication altogether. This, in fact, is the way we mostly communicate with you. It goes beyond outer language.

People in your realm could learn this as well, if you really wanted to do so, and if you practiced. It would mean, though, putting aside much of the distractions of the human consciousness. Things that distract you that you think are important in Life, but in the Big Picture of things, are not. It would mean putting more attention on the Light, so to speak. And developing that within yourself. Once you do so, it is then more possible to move beyond the Veil. And to communicate and understand. There are many in your world who do know such things and have even written books on learning to develop the Light within. If you are interested and when you are ready, such books will come to your attention.

Do fairies knows other languages
by: Ritu mathew

Hi Ophelia...I am from Assam( INDIA). I believe in fairies. Do fairies know other languages like Hindi, Gujarati, French, etc?

Is there any fairies at my place Assam (INDIA).

[Ophelia Fey says] - There are fairies everywhere, Ritu. Where ever there is nature... the country or territory makes no difference. There are nature spirits (fae) in deserts, rain forests, snowy areas, everywhere. For those fae who are used to being around mortals, they may become familiar with whatever languages are spoken around them (if they are interested). Just as you do. So yes, it is possible that nature beings would speak other languages.

Writing the language of the fairies
by: Marie

I have a story that I am writing and I am wondering how to write the language of the fairies. Is there anyway to write it with English letters? or is it just written with symbols?

[Ophelia Fey says] -- It is mostly written in characters like symbols (when written at all), and not something I am able to give further details about. It is not something mortals could read nor understand (if they could even See it).

Written Fairy Words
by: thrymr

So there are aloud words, but what about written ones? Do the fey write, and if so what does it look like?

[Ophelia Fey says] - Yes, fae folk do write. Since we communicate in many ways, writing would be one. To you it would probably seem like a cross between symbols and a graceful penmanship. Some types of writing have more scrolls and swirls, and some types are what you could call more straight and "gothic" looking. Some are rather complex to learn, others more simple. But we would not disclose such knowledge to those not of our realm.
