Fairies and Religion
Ophelia, is it okay to trust and befriend with faes since I'm Christian?
Ophelia Fey says - Hello. I have been asked similar questions about fairies and religion many times. I obviously cannot comment on what you choose as religious beliefs. I also am not publishing the link to the web site you provided, as I do not agree with it. At all. There are, after all, many, many religions around the world. And everyone seems to think they are right, and have many ways to “prove” it. It even results in violence and wars, shame and guilt. Many wars actually, since many are over religion. Or territory, which in some cases is almost the same. But I digress…
Much of what people think they know about nature spirits, fairies and religion, is simply from their own folklore, which I have already explained, is not accurate. And so one should hardly formulate some sort of religious belief or rule about that. Thus, out of misinformation, some believe that there cannot possibly be a nature spirit world. Or if there is, it must be evil, demonic, etc., eager to mislead you to focus on them instead of on God, or even angels. And that such nature spirits would want to trick people into following them, in order to possess them, and all sorts of such things. (There is always something that can be quoted to “prove” this). On the contrary -- beings of nature are in harmony with nature, all of which is filled with Divine Intelligence. We have no desire to be focused on, or to displace a Supreme Being. We are not competing with any Being or spiritual leader or master. We simply are.
And so you can certainly believe in us. Or not. It does not change things. And it is certainly not “necessary” that you know about us at all. But there are many positives if you do. So you must follow your own Guidance regarding fairies and religion or, if you are a minor, those who still guide you. If you want to read more of what I have to say, then continue…
It has been much the same way with many new ideas all throughout history, including those in the scientific study of unseen forces, when people were tortured and imprisoned for their ideas. By religion. Only to be realized centuries later that they were correct. Galileo and Copernicus are examples. In the time of Benjamin Franklin, it was thought that the force of lightening was the Wrath of God. Until Franklin studied, experimented, and explained the science behind it, invented the lightening rod, and people’s houses were no longer burned down out of “wrath.”
Even within one religion there are differences. That is mostly because your sacred scriptures can be and have been, interpreted many different ways. And within a given religion, say, Christianity, there are also many, many different “denominations” or brands, so to speak. And all seem to think they are right. They even argue amongst themselves within their own group. Some are very strict, basing their beliefs on what they think are the correct interpretations of their scriptures, written long ago in a specific culture to a specific people. Others are open-minded, welcoming discussion. Including about nature and spirits. fairies and religion.
Consider that sacred texts are written on different tracks, or levels of understanding. Because you obviously no longer live or understand as people did thousands of years ago. And you do not even speak or write the original languages in which some of these texts were written. They were written in accordance to what people could grasp and understand at that time. Like the ancient Aramaic of the bible. Yet they are still meaningful to you now. Perhaps because there are other levels of meaning.
And so I would say that if a person did years of their own research -- if a person learned the original, (say for the bible), the old Aramaic language; that ancient alphabet as well as the numbers assigned to each letter and exactly what they mean; and the subtle meanings of words that have various meanings depending on its context in a sentence or paragraph; plus customs and culture and temperament and idiomatic expressions (which are vast and complex); if a person obtained the accurate (not Westernized) translations of those olden texts to study (and they are there to study); if a person took the time and energy to seek out more – then I would say that person is slightly more qualified to comment on meanings of things.
But of course, hardly anyone does all that. Beliefs are just passed on. But there are those who have done all this. And they have come to realize that things are not always as simple as they seem. Especially if they have also studied quantum physics, or the cellular biology of Dr. Bruce Lipton as well. And the medical commentary on Near Death Experiences, such as from Dr. Raymond Moody with Dannion Brinkley (“Saved By The Light”).
Yet, even if a person did all this study, one can still only speak for him/herself.
Everyone’s path is unique. You are not all the same. Yet you are. That is why your sacred scriptures speak to all of you in different ways. So who is right? Everyone? So then who is wrong – everyone? Each person is right…for themselves.
People from lots of various countries, traditions and beliefs read my web site. And write to me. Many have had their own experiences with nature spirits. And those experiences were not “evil,” but quite good, as is common and as it should be. Thus I cannot say what any one person should or should not believe in. Including in us. And no matter what I would say, there would be those ready to argue and quote. So it all must be left up to yourselves.
And this is all I will say on the matter of fairies and religion. At least for now.
