Fairy Boy

I recently heard of a story where a long time ago there was a little boy who was able to go to the fairy world and play with the fairies. No one believed him until one day he vanished off the face of the earth. Did you or any other fairies ever see this boy? Is the story true?
Ophelia Fey says -- I have not heard this particular story, but I have heard others like it. Most of them are fiction. People like to blame missing children on something, including fairies. It is possible that the boy did find a way into Faerie. It could be somewhat possible he did not find a way out, but not probable. Usually children do not wander very far in, so they can come out.
Fairies are protective of human children. People are part of nature, and we take care of nature. We feel quite responsible for taking care of children. So the fairies I know of, anyway, would not deliberately lure a child deep into Faerie where they could not find their way out. Fairies might like to play with them, but they stay near to where the person enters.
The exception would be if the person happens to enter at the "wrong" place. Wrong because it would be a portal into those parts of Faerie that you would not want to go. These areas are remote, though, and difficult to find. A child would have had to really wander away from a very remote wilderness area. I obviously will not disclose where these places are. But let's just say it's not where a typical hiker would be. Interestingly enough, however, I have seen the outskirts of one of them filmed in a nature program shown on your television.
