Fairy Clothing

Do fairies really wear flower petals and leaves as clothing? If so, why don't the clothes dry up and flake off as the petals and leaves die?
Ophelia says -- Thank you, Amber. First of all, the type of clothing fairies wear depends on the types of fairies. What element were they born into and belong to? It is mostly fairies of the earth element, the most easy for humans to see, that use petals and leaves from gardens, forests, woodlands and fields. But they also spin clothing from the same fibers you do -- cotton, silk, flax. Plus spider web which is quite soft and lovely. And our spinning lasts for a very long time.
A fire fairy would not wear clothing of flower petals. Their fire bodies do not need clothing, although they sometimes adorn themselves with the rare red and black diamonds and certain firey opals. A water fairy such as what you call a mermaid, would also adorn him or herself with objects and plants from the waters. A sylph of the air would wrap herself in mist, spun clouds and rainbow, if anything.
Keep in mind that all fairy folk are formed of energy. As does all Life, we emanate a forcefield, so that which comes into contact with our being takes on our energy. Therefore, when we clothe and adorn ourselves, those petals and leaves are infused with our energy and do not wither and die, but maintain the exact state they were in when we put them on.
When we choose to take them off and change our clothes, then they will fade. Since we may wear an outfit of clothing for perhaps years your time (we do not keep track of time as you do) then those petals and leaves will quickly disintegrate, as they are by then quite old.
Many types of fairies love fashion. We especially love to see what humans design and make and may copy them. And I do have to say that some of your own designers' imaginations have been sparked by fairy inspiration, and so their creations come indirectly from us. (Can you guess who?) It is quite exciting for us to see. And if they include these garments in a fashion show, we do attend.
