Fairy God Mother

What is the difference between a fairy god mother and a wishing fairy? Don't they do the same things?
Ophelia Fey says -- That is a very good question, Beth. As with matters in the earthly plane, in the hidden world of nature beings (or fairies, as they may be called), we also often specialize.
Thus, so-called "wishing fairies" tend to those wishes, hopes, and dreams expressed by mortals that are sent to the fairy realm specifically. That is not to say they can all be granted.
It is only within the power of nature beings to deal with certain kinds of wishes. (And those do not include wishes that involve someone else and their free will, like trying to get someone to fall in love with another someone; or turning someone into something that is other than human -- But there are many more pages on this web site about wishing and such). Also, Wishing Fairies just work with matters of wishing, not other issues.
On the other hand, a so-called fairy god mother (or godmother as it is usually spelled) is one who nurtures and guides. She is very old, wise, and experienced with the ways of mortals. To use one of your well-known expressions, has perhaps "seen it all." Or "been there, done that."
Thus she is one that you can speak with in your heart about things that trouble you, things you may need help with, things you are happy about. A confidante. A grandmotherly-type friend. A type of comforter and guide. She will answer you in your heart. And you may also become very aware of her presence and become able to intensely feel it, or eventually See her.
You see, not everyone relates to that part of the Unseen world that is known as angels. Or someone might, yet they also would love a friend who is a being of nature, or "fairy." The idea of the fairy godmother may be very familiar and comfortable to them. Thus, there are many different beings you could connect with, for different kinds of people and needs.
