Frivolous Fairy Makeup Supplies

Special fairy makeup supplies are a must for getting the right look.

Although if you’re not a fairy and don’t have a wand, it’s a lot harder. But it can be done.

I know it would be very difficult for mortals to create makeup like fairies do. But there are many human makeup artists who are quite adept at doing a delightful job with the fairy makeup look. And you can also see my page on Easy Fairy Makeup for easy tips and techniques for human. Anyway, here are a few of the fairy makeup supplies you might like to consider for your fairy makeup plans. You don’t need to sink a fortune into supplies (unless you want to). Use what you have. Keep in mind your look and your color scheme first, so your makeup results do not look like they were applied by a troll.

Supplies For Mortals
* Waterproof products for everything when possible
* Face paints or special Halloween makeup -- if you want really intense colors
* Makeup primer -- a must to make makeup stay on and go on smoothly
* Eye makeup primer – makes your eye makeup stay on much longer
* Colorful eyeliner pencils
* Liquid eyeliner – you can get a defined line much easier
* Cream eye shadows (especially white)
* Lots of thick mascara, in whatever colors you can find
* False eyelashes -- including ones with jewels and glitter
* Colored or special effects contact lenses
* Glitter -- an absolute must-have
* Shimmer powders and blushes in various colors -- especially gold
* Lots of lipstick colors from pale beige to bright red
* You even have brown and black lipstick, I understand
* Face paints can also be used on lips, perhaps blue or green?
* Lip gloss and lip shimmers -- a must for a true fairy look
* Stick-on gems
* Temporary tattoos (which you can outline, enhance and extend using your own pencils)
* Even an airbrush set
* And frankly, I’ve seen people use colored markers as well. Some markers come off with water, some don’t as easily.

Whatever fairy makeup supplies you use, make sure you have really clean skin first.

And make sure you remove everything very thoroughly. You may need special makeup removers. Very important for the eye area. Mortal skin is not in the least like what we fairies have. Of course, everything would be eversomuch easier if you could use a wand. (I mean, who wants to put a foreign object like a lens into their eye to give it color – I guess humans do though).

Now if you are a fairy who happens to be reading this, or have access to a real fairy makeup artist, these fairy makeup supplies are crucial to success.

Supplies For Fairies
Glitter from pulverized crystals and stars; stardust, moon dust, black hole dust (very glittery); frost (especially hoar frost) and ice crystals; iridescent insect wings (such as dragonfly and golden stag beetle); butterfly wings of all sorts (after molting or passage); pressed flowers and petals unless you have foliage naturally growing from your eyebrows, lashes, ear tips, etc.; vines; jewels (we only use real gems); berry juices, flower petal dyes, distilled bark, essence of rainbow, essence of dawn, essence of sunset, midnight sky concentrate, squid ink, black or golden dragon blood, etc. The previous items are almost indispensible.

Applicators that are excellent include a beryl-tipped wand (you can see beryl in the picture on the right) such as heliodor or aquamarine; phoenix feathers, ogre eyelash brush (soft, yet durable), and an yttrium-content pen (not to be used by mortals, as it may cause lung cancer). See sample of ogre eyelash brush below.

Proper wand technique is everything, just as proper technique with mortal makeup is important. If you really want your makeup to turn out well, get the right fairy makeup supplies, and have a makeup artist show you what to do. If you’re planning a big occasion, it may be worth it.

Certainly, there are fine mortal makeups available. But you can see from above the difference between human shimmers, and fairy makeup supplies like crystallized star dust. If at all possible, have a fairy do your makeup for you. Hint: fairies love chocolate and anything sparkly, in case you’re wondering how to attract them.

Fairy makeup is fun and frivolous. That’s why we do it. Fairies love frivolity. Now that you know a bit about supplies, see some of our design ideas here by following the link below to the Fairy Makeup page.

Be sure to also see these other pages:

Spectacular Snow Fairies -- Snow fairies are spectacular, powerful, artistic. Who else could create millions of different snowflake designs? (And their fairy makeup is spectacular too). You have no idea how complicated making snow and snowflakes is. Learn just what they must go through.
Real Gothic Fairies -- Real gothic fairies, who dwell in the Kingdom of Faerie, may not be what you expect. Mortals have their own version of gothic. There is a very powerful band of fae that your gothic fairy is based on. Learn the fairies’ secrets. (Their makeup can also be spectacular).
The Fairy Rose Fairy -- The lovely fairy rose is fairly easy to care for. Especially when fairies themselves help you. And having them in your garden is an excellent way to attract fairies. Learn just what to do here.
