Fairy Shivers
by Faith
Hi Ophelia, I was wondering with the constant and continuous changing of the seasons, if it's possible for fairies to get cold or too hot.
Ophelia Fey says -- Faith, this is a very interesting question. As you may know by now, fairies do not have the same kinds of bodies as you do, so do not have the same sensory perceptions. We do not feel physical things in the same way -- not changes in hot and cold, nor pain.
To clarify this, since fairies do belong to an element (such as fire or water, for instance), we must be mindful of the limitations of our element and the seasons that go with it. During certain seasons, certain fairies might "retire" and withdraw. A snow fairy would not generally go out in summer. Or they may all migrate to the colder areas. Various fairies do come out for festivals though, with special preparations.
As an example, a fire fairy would not deliberately jump into water. Well he or she might, but would also know that they would immediately turn to steam and that would pose a problem in transforming back. Not that it can't be done.
And too, a fire fairy would have to plan when attending a festivity given by snow fairies in winter. And the host would have to be aware of guests from all elements, and the needs of all the various guests. It's not that anyone gets cold exactly, it's more how our element affects another.
Likewise, a snow fairy would make specific plans when visiting a fairy in summer. Particularly a fire fairy during fireworks or at a bonfire. This can be quite challenging.
Earth fairies of the forest, fields and gardens are the most flexible. Most must in some way shield their energy from freezing or melting or turning into steam, or liquidating, by clothing or caping themselves with fairy garments (such garments are different than yours). It is like you dress for weather though. But this is not the same as the feeling or cold or hot.
