Fire Fairies

by Carmel
(Stupava, Slovakia)

I read your article on fire fairies and loved it. I'm really interested in fairies. I'd like to ask about what kind of powers fire fairies have?
love from Carmel xx

Ophelia Fey says -- Fire fairies have the powers to create, control, and extinguish the fire element, in accordance with the natural processes of nature. Many of which your science has not yet discovered. So what seems "magical" to you, really is not so much to us. So it is not that they do anything unusual in particular. But the power of the fire fairy cannot be underestimated - they can quickly get out of control. Thus it is true that fire is nothing to be played with.

The spirits of nature within the fire element feed off it, you might say. They can be your friend or foe, and do respond if you respect them. Fire elementals are often misunderstood. Whereas, you may think a fire is "bad," we may think of it simply as nature taking its natural course. It is usually when people are not attentive to their lives and surroundings when trouble happens.

The power of the fire element is not something people can easily understand. Much like you cannot understand many of the ways of nature. To speak of the "powers" of nature spirits is tricky, as people tend to get very magical and superstitious about such things. Fire fae do not have forms that you could easily relate to (except when people make pictures of them for your enjoyment). And they do not, for instance, wave wands or cast spells and such. They are, however, aware of the power of the spoken word. But these would be words unfamiliar to you.

At any rate, the powers that the fire elementals possess would not be seen or perceived in the earthly dimension. Much of what they do happens in what you would call "behind the scene." In the Unseen.

Thank you for posting- and answering my question!

Leprechauns
by: Lauren

Are Leprechauns a type of faery too?

[Ophelia Fey says] - They are a type of earth fae, I think one might say. But what you call a leprechaun (which is just a label, after all) and what it really is, might be a bit different. I might write a separate page about this topic.

Fire Faeries

Ophelia, I most certainly would not say that their hair is silly or ridiculous; rather amusing, cool, or even entertaining. I think that might be a nicer way of saying what one thinks of their hair without insulting them. (hopefully)

Forest Fires
by: Anonymous

If fire faeries can control fire, then why when a forest is burning they don't stop it, since they have to protect nature. Is it because of evil fire faeries? but isn't the light more powerful than the dark? thank you!

[Ophelia Fey says] - Forest fires are part of nature. Fire fae would not, of course, see them as dangerous. Fire fae do not "control" fire in the way you are perhaps thinking. They work with it. And protect nature from what? Cycles come and cycles go ...and forest fires are cycles in nature. This has nothing to do with evil fae, or light and dark. It just Is.

There are also many good results for the earth after a fire is over, although it may seem to people that "damage" has been done. Often, fires are necessary for certain functions in nature to then take place. Since nature beings such as fire spirits are not bound to Time in the same way you are, they would perceive the big picture of things. Not a temporary result or event that has happened at a particular point in time.

Certainly, there are those fires that are caused by humans. And nature beings do try to assist as they can. But we are not allowed to interfere will the free will of humankind. Lessons must be learned. If we were continually interceding, those lessons would not be learned. And sometimes the lessons brought upon yourselves, are difficult indeed.
