How tall are fairies?

How tall are fairies? Some books say 2cm, some say 12 1nches. My mum says there the size of your thumb. I think there about 8cm but I'm not sure, can you help me out.

Ophelia Fey says -- The spirits of nature have many different sizes, depending on what we are meant to do. There are very tiny spirits within the flower world, and those that appear to be small lights, and they could be 2 inches high. There are others who are as tall as mortals. And others that would come to your knee.

Our forms are not the same as yours, as you know, so we are mainly measured by the power of our energy. A nature spirit who has greater mastery over energy can increase his or her size, or also shrink it if desired. It doesn't matter, except for what we need to accomplish. I hope this helps.
