How To Attract Faeries

Know how to attract faeries? Well I do, being Faerie myself. Faerie or Fairy, the spelling matters not – I like to use either way. I’ll tell you some secrets to attract us, then you can try. We do like to visit mortals who care about us and our world -- nature. But we’ll be more interested in visiting you, if you learn the proper ways to attract. There are many. These are just a few.Ophelia Fey, Fairy It Starts With You What you are like will depend on the types of fairies (or faeries) you attract. Your thoughts and feelings send out energy that acts like a magnet. Faeries respond to feelings and mood. So your basic personality and mood is very important. If you know you have some bad habits that might keep good faeries away, then do work on them. It will make a big difference. You are a big way of how to attract faeries. Think of how you are with your family and friends. If you’re angry, selfish, unkind, overly upset, if you gossip, that is the general energy you will have around you, and that is the type of fae you will attract from the realm of faerie (and from life in general, of course). Faeries do not expect you to be perfect. But they will feel what you are basically all about. There are those, for instance, who write to me and ask their questions and never say Thank You, even when I answer them. And there are those who say Thank You as part of their question, even before I answer. Faeries do take notice of this. Who do you think they would be most attracted to? So when considering how to attract faeries, keep all of this in mind. When attracting faeries, try to put yourself in a calm and harmonious mood. Take some deep breaths and think of the good things in life. Think of all of the things you can be grateful for. Faeries are sometimes shocked by how some humans can become quite ungrateful. Even with wonderful things right before their eyes. Being grateful is an excellent way of how to attract faeries. (The good ones). Nature Faeries are the spirits of nature. It is our primary home. One of our reasons for being is to take care of the natural world. (And remember, you are part of nature too – we can and do help take care of you). So if you really want to learn how to attract faeries, you must show us that you care for your environment and the natural beauty and bounty your earth has been bestowed with. It is never too late to start helping. And it can be as simple as recycling and picking up your trash (which we abhor). If we sense that you do not care about this basic part of life, we will not be much interested in you. Or perhaps I should say, only a certain type of fae folk will be interested in you. Fairy Gardens

Just what are fairy gardens? Any garden that is fairy-friendly! Even on your window sill - an easy way of how to attract faeries. Fairy gardens is such a popular topic that I will have a page just about it, and some of the things we love in them. But here are some basic tips for getting started with your garden (more when I make my garden page): - Edible herbs such as rosemary, licorice root, sweet leaf (stevia) and peppermint.
- Fragrant plants like roses, lemon verbena, lavender, and we love eucalyptus.
- All kinds of flowers – the more the better. In all kinds of colors. We do enjoy cut flowers too.
- Places with both shade and sun.
- Flowers that attract butterflies will attract us, like hollyhocks, snap dragons, columbine, sunflowers, calendula. These are just a few.
- Flowers that attract humming birds (who we often fly with), such as honeysuckle and columbine, trumpet flowers, fuschia, petunia, four o’clocks, foxglove.
- A fountain, birdbath, a pretty bowl or vase of water.
- Statues, plaques, pots with images of fairies and gnomes.
- Bird houses.
- Any tiny garden things that would be a size for a small someone.
These are all ways on how to attract faeries.Fairy Homes

We don’t really need a home made by humans of course, but you have such imaginations that we find them most charming and delightful. And we do enjoy stopping by to visit them, although we most likely would not take up permanent residence. (We do like to fly about here and there, you know). Fairy homes can be made in many ways. You can use a little bird house and decorate it nicely. You could build one from scratch from twigs and wood and such. Or set up a little nook in your garden. We love anything natural. You could even fancify a little bird cage. As long as we do not feel like we’d be in a cage. The door should never be locked. Not that you could catch us or keep us in, mind you. But locks are not inviting. Or just a little set up on a little shelf. Something comfy with natural features. Perhaps by a plant (which we will be happy to help you take care of). And if you have a doll house, we would love to come and visit. So making fairy houses is a fun way of how to attract faeries. And what is our very favorite? A gingerbread house! We may even help you build it. Of course, you may find some of the candies missing… Sweets and Treats
Treats are an excellent way for how to attract faeries. Many humans try to make what they call “fairy food.” It is quite cute and usually not what we would normally eat. Just what you think we would eat. (We tend to eat naturally). However, we do find your treats delicious, and the smell of baking is almost irresistible. And we only need a taste. Just a crumb or two may be missing. Crumbs, after all, are quite large to the small fairies -- the kind who most visit your kitchens. It’s easier for the small faeries to hide amongst your kitchen things. We enjoy tasting what you make. Some of us even eat sour or hot and spicy. Very few of us like a lot of salt. Mature faeries also enjoy a sip or two of rich coffee or a few drops of wine. And fizz. Especially in a little crystal or china vessel. (We love crystal). And tiny tea sets are quite a delight. I will be writing more about fairy food and what we like later. Hint: We particularly love chocolate, honey, natural maple syrup, and cinnamon. The smell is divine. So if you leave a bit of a treat out, including something marvelous to drink, we may just come around. Fairies are shy and cunning. We do not like to be seen until we are very used to you. We may hide behind a teapot or cookie jar or cup until we feel safe. If you have a picnic we may join you. Faeries love to eat ice cream on hot days. We may hide at first. Then we will cautiously flit out of hiding to see what you have and sneak a small bite.
Priscilla from the Bronx, USA, wrote in with a question about giving fairy treats. She wrote: "What if you give the fairies a gift doughnut and they don't finish eating this gift doughnut and you eat it what will happen to you?"My Answer -- It is usually smaller fairies that visit kitchens and homes, since it is easier for them to hide. Because they are small, it would be very difficult to eat an entire doughnut! They would have just a few crumbs. They may, however, have left a tiny bit of fairy magic or fairy dust. If so and you eat it, lucky you! It is like getting a special fairy blessing. It will make you feel very happy and healthier for quite some time. In fact, I have seen it utterly transform someone’s life – for the better. It seems success and prosperity come more easily to them. And too, food will always taste a bit better! Fun Things If you want to know other ways of how to attract faeries, there are lots of fun things that mortals have that fascinate us. As I’ve mentioned, we love anything that glitters or sparkles. So if you have sparkly things in your garden, we would dart right over to see it. Fun things that hang from trees or the porch, for instance.

Jewelry and gems -- Ah yes. If you have ever had an earring or ring go missing, please do not blame it on a child, a pet, or your guest. We may have borrowed it to show our friends. We always bring them back. But I have to confess, we sometimes get confused about where it goes when we bring it back. So it may end up in the wrong place entirely. And actually (and here I do blush) we may have even returned it to the wrong home. Oh dear. We are so very sorry. In our excitement we do occasionally become confused. Rhinestones and glitter and crystal are lovely. But real gems, jewels, and geods are like a magnet. After all, nature spirits are who help create them in the natural world in the first place. And so when we see how mortals have used them in their marvelous creations, we find them simply stunning. So you may always prepare a small place in your boudoir or upon your dressing table or near your jewelry box just for faeries. Geods, rocks and crystals -- Speaking of geods and crystals, they come from our world, you know. There are certain types of fae that oversee their formation. And so they are an important way of how to attract faeries. Music -- Another tip on how to attract faeries is to play music. Not too loudly, please. Our hearing is much more acute and sensitive than yours. We know that sometimes mortal music must be loud, which is fine for you of course. But very few fae folk would consider a visit where such music is present. We do enjoy lively music, to be sure. But that is not the same as loud and jarring. We would then simply pass you by.

You could also leave a musical instrument out. A piano perhaps. Small fairies love to jump across the keys. And we are skilled in playing tunes. Guitar, drums (wonderful for bouncing), a harp, even a flute or penny whistle. These are all instruments we are attracted to. Perhaps from time to time you thought you heard music. But couldn’t imagine why or where, and so second guessed yourself. You may have guessed wrong! You may have unexpectedly learned how to attract faeries.Art -- Another way how to attract faeries? Art! Especially fairy art. We love seeing ourselves portrayed. It is so very amusing the way mortals picture us. And it does give us ideas on how to dress and decorate ourselves. Even enhance our wings. But all kinds of art, especially of nature, intrigue us. And if you leave out a little paint and brush (it may take two of us to handle it), or colored chalk, even a crayon, we can keep busy for ever so long. With plenty of giggles, to be sure. But don’t expect us to leave our masterpieces behind. Heavens no! We will take it with us to show our friends, give as a gift, or hang in our home. Many faeries are natural artists. You would be stunned at what we can do. Of course it’s true we can use a wand and add in a little fairy dust too. Perhaps that gives us a bit of an advantage. Anything creative is a sure way of how to attract faeries. Bubbles -- Yes, it is true. An excellent way of how to attract faeries. We adore bubbles of all kinds. Bubbles in your kitchen sink.

Those deliciously fragrant bubbles in the bath. They are loads of fun to jump into and to hop upon. And throw. (I know that would not work for humans, though). And those lovely bubbles that you blow and float through the air. They’re almost like magic. It’s as if they fly. Like us. And so we love to chase them. Our wings often resemble the same substance as bubbles. When you blow them into the air you may get a quick glimpse of something flitting oh so fast nearby. We can also wiggle our way into the bubble and drift along inside. How dreamy. So if you’re wondering how to attract faeries, these are just some ways to wonder about. Do invite us to visit you. We love an invitation.
