How Did You Meet Mary?

by Zab

Mary and her mother

Mary and her mother

I want to hear how you and Mary met. It would be an honor to hear your tale. I'm sure everyone else would want to know as well. How did you meet Mary the mortal?

Ophelia Fey says -- I have been with Mary the mortal since she was a small child, "assigned" I guess you could say. I am one of her guardians. Just as many of you also have guardians (angelic spirits and nature spirits alike). Now please everyone, don't write and ask me if you in particular have a guardian -- I couldn't possibly answer everyone individually! But you will get a "feel" for it and you will then know. Your guardians stay with you for life, through thick and thin. You are thus never alone.

Mary's mother Collette (who died when she was 7) always told her stories about fairies at nap time. Especially about the Fairy whose hair was like a mop. Now, if you will notice from the pictures of me on the top banner to this web site, and in the About Us area, my hair does look a bit like a mop. Yes, those are pictures of me, painted by Mary as she sees me, and who has seen me since childhood.

So Mary's mother told many a story about me and my little adventures. And how I lived in their back yard. Which I did. And also in the house, especially in winter. I particularly enjoyed their parakeet, watching the aquarium, and Mary's pet miniature snapping turtle which she named "Vladmir."

As time went on Mary came to know that my real name was Ophelia Fey, but she often still calls me by my nickname (which I will not tell here. Perhaps another time).

I taught Mary from a young age about taking care of nature. Her grandmother lived right next door, and they made a little garden together in the back yard, which I helped take care of. I must confess that I did pull up carrots rather early when they were small, as I have a fancy for tiny carrots. And chives. And all sorts of berries of course. Her grandmother frequently used to remark that there were fairies around.

I also inspired Mary at a very young age with art, which became one of her talents. And thus I am referred to as her Muse. She won several awards over the years, starting at age 10. And naturally one of her favorite things to paint was fairies and fairy tales.

During the summer the family, including the grandparents, moved out to their cabin for the season, which was only 40 minutes away. So I went along too. There we had many adventures in Turtle Territory and Butterfly Bay (as the kids called it). They had a lovely beach in front and a climbing tree that reached over the water. So plenty of nature for me to live in.

Through the years we have traveled all over the world together, and I have met fae folk from many places and saw many an unusual sight. And heard many an unusual tale.

And thus it is that I am here with Mary, for life. Many of you have asked me to come and visit you, which you see that I cannot do. However, if we happen to travel to your area, I may look in on you. And I just may visit you in your dreams if you ask.

But after all, you do not need me. You will have your own guardians and fairy friends. Yes, they may be there, even if you do not see them with your human eyes. You will see them first through your heart. Fairy Blessings,

Ophelia Fey, fairy

A question for Mary

by Zab
(California)

This question for Mary the mortal. Has your family had a long history with the fairies? Are you the first to talk to a fairy?

Mary the Mortal says -- When I was little my mother said she talked to the fairies. My grandmother mentioned them often, but I do not know if she saw them. Fairies were always a part of my growing up, and fairy tales and folklore were my absolute favorite thing to read. And to draw and paint. I was very shy and quiet, yet alert to nature and what was around me. As with many families, I did not talk about these things. But I did talk to certain friends who understood. And I can tell you for an absolute fact, that there is more out There than meets the eye. That is all I am going to say at this time. I will leave the rest to Ophelia Fey.
