More Bad Fairies

I read a book about fairies in the library a couple of weeks ago. It talked about bad fairies, good fairies, goblins, etc. In a story, a fairy women touched the youngest girl, who later dropped dead. It said that some fairies can kill by touch. Is this true?
Ophelia Fey says -- Brienna, I have shortened your original question a bit, to make it easier to read and answer. You may have read my other Ask A Fairy answer called Bad Fairies. just click to read it. This will answer some of your questions.
It is important to realize that you are reading a story. From the library. Even old fairy tales are mostly just that -- tales. Although some of them did tap into certain truths and awareness of other dimensions, most of these stories do come through the filter of the human mind. It can be very confusing. And in olden times (and still today in may ways) the human mind was full of fear and superstition. So even though folks may have observed a thing or two from the world of Faerie, they often misinterpreted or exaggerated what they saw. And created stereotypes.
Plus, folklore and fairy tales were often meant to teach a lesson or moral of the story. Sometimes it was that evil exists, especially when you feed it your energy and attention with your thoughts and feelings. And some stories were meant to be symbolic, even of higher Truths.
So keep these things in mind when you read fairy tales and folklore. They are a "mixed bag," as you say. But fairy tales can be a wonderful thing and open the human mind up to the possibility of Something Else.
In the case of your story, the death of the girl could have been symbolic. Or the whole thing could be just a story. I can't say, since I didn't read it. It is true that sometimes the touch of an evil can cause death. But it is unlikely that someone would randomly encounter such a fairy and such a force while just out and about.
You may not see or hear evil with your outer eyes or ears, but you may feel it. And you can get entangled in it unawares. So it is important to simply be Aware. And I'm not talking about just fairies.
