Pixie Dust

What is Pixie dust?
Ophelia Fey says -- Pixie dust is often confused by humans with fairy dust (as pictured here). They are similar and can be understood by first understanding what a pixie is.
Pixies are a kind of fairy, very small in stature, and usually of earthy color. They are often full of fun, and because they're small, like to throw around a lot of pixie dust to create the illusion of magical skill and power; a sort of "shock and awe" effect you might say. If you fall for it, you can be quite impressed.
But pixie dust is really just the standard fairy dust. It's made from a variety of substances, such as basic stardust that can be found abundantly in the Kingdom of Faerie, from powderized crystals, ground dragon tooth, etc. Pixies tend to infuse their dust with an extreme amount of sparkle, for extra effect. Not that it really does anything extra.
In reality, pixie and fairy dust is a prop. Once a fairy has really mastered their skill, they don't need a wand or dust to accomplish what they set their mind to. It's a matter of mind over matter, you see. Some day mortals will understand more about this as well. (Your science of quantum physics is just beginning to unveil the mystery. Or what you perceive as being a mystery).
Anyway, pixie dust is used mostly for fun and not to be taken too seriously. If you happen to get some in your nose and eyes, it will cause you to sneeze and itch. If you breathe it in, it will cause you to feel dizzy because it very much clears your head. And the side effect of that, of course, is that you may be able to see pixies and fairies.
So do try it.
Can it cause you to fly? I've never personally seen that happen. But ask Tinkerbell.
