What To Wish For

In the wishing section you haven't really stated what or what not to wish for. You have said the basics, that you are not allowed to wish for the bad of others or it will come back to you. Like Karma, I guess. But what else are you not allowed to wish for? It seems obvious that we can't wish for something like flying because that's not how we were made, so we are not able to fly, right?
But what would be considered an impossible wish then? Or, on the contrary, a possible wish? Can you wish to be taller? Can you wish for a different voice? Can you wish to change the color of your eyes? As you can see, most of these 'wishes' are based on physical changes, my next question is: can you wish to change physical appearance?
You had said in the Wishing section that you are not allowed to wish for the bad of others, but can you wish for the good of them? Or are we not allowed to wish for others in general?
It would be great if you could clear a few of my questions up! Thank you so much, and I'll be looking forward to your reply.
Ophelia Fey says -- Thank you for so carefully reading the Wishing page. You are getting a good picture of wishing. And I am going to make a Link from the Wishing page to these wishing questions. As you said, you must not wish for the bad of others. (Very few Wishing Fairies would work with such a wish anyway, plus it will backfire on you).
This is the tricky thing about wishing for others: You may think you know what is "good" for them. But that is according to your own personal opinion.
The truth is, sometimes a person must "go through" something for very specific reasons that are only between them and the Power That Is, (Whatever or Whoever you choose to call It). We do not get to decide what is "good" and "bad" in many matters. It may be good for someone to have a difficult experience because they are meant to learn something that their soul definitely needs to learn, even though it may seem "bad" to you. That is not up to a human or fairy to decide.
Yet what may seem "good," like a healing or wealth, may not at all be what a particular person needs at a particular time. You may indeed be able to set things in motion for it to happen. And you may indeed help it come about. But you also may indeed have meddled in something you should not be meddling in. You simply do not know all the ins and outs of a given person and their Purpose and Lessons, and what is behind everything. Do you see? It gets very, very tricky.
So if you feel that you absolutely must make a wish involving someone else, then keep this in mind. And always wish only for the highest and the best for them according to what is Meant To Be. (It is the same as with a prayer, really). And always leave it in the hands of the Power That Is to decide on the final outcome. However, if your outcome should truly be the best, your wish could very well have set in motion a powerful force -- the special boost -- needed to get it going.
So fairies tend to only deal with wishes that are for or about the wisher. It is just more clean cut.
As for wishing for physical changes and appearance for yourself, you can certainly wish. And if it is possible, it may happen. But always in accordance with what you are ready to receive and your Natural Law. Indeed, your hair may grow longer and you may grow taller. But you understand that the likelihood of this happening by the time you wake up in the morning just Ain't Going To Happen (I happen to like that little phrase). However, it may happen quite a bit faster than it otherwise would have. And indeed, eye color has been known to change in humans. But why ever would you want to wish for that? It seems rather pointless to me and a tremendous waste of energy, which every wish takes.
I completely understand why humans might want to change their appearance to look more "beautiful." However you define that, which is different in different cultures. But this too can be tricky. For instance, say a person has a serious birth "defect" as you call it (although we would never use that term in Faerie), and wishes it to be changed. Perhaps it will. In time. That person may be led to an expert and to the money to help "correct" it. But you do not know exactly why the person has it, or what lessons need to be learned. Perhaps for themselves, or for their family or community. Perhaps to teach about compassion and acceptance. The more important things in Life. Perhaps as an opportunity for the expert they are led to, to make an important discovery. Do you see how complicated this can get? Fairies would like people to come to better understand Inner Beauty, rather than outer.
And the wisher must also be open to the outcome of the wish, that whatever it is may be the absolute best, even though they did not get transformed as "perfectly" as they thought they would.
But wishing certainly does not hurt. It does not hurt to ask, and it is not wrong. As long as you ask in accordance to the Highest and the Best, when it comes to your personal matters. Humans are meant to learn to master themselves and their environment, and to expand -- in a good way. And after all, what comes to you may be even more spectacular than you ever imagined!!
