Writing A Book About Fairies

by Angelina
(Clarkston)

I have some ideas for stories about fairies and want to know if fairies would be offended or be receptive to a project like this.

Ophelia Fey says - Angelina, we would not be offended at all. Indeed, we would be thrilled! We do thoroughly enjoy people's stories about us (well, at least many of them). I hope that some of the things I have written on this web site can be of assistance to you.

After that, let your imagination go to work! After all, there are many levels and troops and tribes and nooks and crannies within the realm of Faerie that even I do not fully know about. So who knows. Maybe you will "tune into" one of them and write something quite original.

And, if you have not already, please do consider subscribing to the free Fairy Messages. For in the second round, the very last one asks for people to help solve the secret of the ruby jewel. If you are a story writer, you too may have an inspiration. I would love to know yours. There are now quite a few very interesting submissions.

A fairy story
by: Sydney

Hello Ophelia! I was wondering if you could give me a few good details for a story. I have been to your website so many times that I may have explored it all! So now I am going to try and write a story about the magical world of fae folk! Thank you!

[Ophelia Fey says] - My goodness, Sydney, if you've read almost the whole web site (which is hundreds of pages counting what people have written in) then you would certainly be full of details already! Just go ahead and begin writing. Try to put your mind out of the way and let your Inspiration guide you -- that is the surest path into the world of the spirits of nature.

Writing a book about faeries

I see, a lot of people don't seem to get it. I just kinda wondered. Thanks for that note. I'll keep that as it is.

Writing a book about faeries
by: Alison

Ophelia, is it possible to have a person be half human and half faerie? My character is half human and half faerie. Or is it only in legends, myths, and stories that makes it possible?

I have my prologue explain why the girl's mother is not present. The situation is that there was an agreement between the human father and the faerie wife's people. The agreement was that the wife could only stay in the human world for a year and a day. Then her people would come and take her back to their own land.

I just want to clarify that.

[Ophelia Fey says] - I am not going to comment about the half fairy half human thing, because no matter what I say about it, it will not be understood correctly. And you are right - most of that is from legends and myths. Origins are a very complex matter. Therefore, do feel free to write your story in whatever way pleases you. That is what is most important. A story from your own heart.

Story Help
by: Anonymous

I'm writing a story but I was wondering is there a type of fairy that grants the wishes you have in your dreams?

[Ophelia Fey says] -- A Wishing Fairy is a spirit of nature that particularly is attuned to helping mortals accomplish or pull toward them, their hopes and dreams. Including those wishes and dreams that happen within your dreams.

But keep in mind the Rules. I can only speak for nature beings, of course, but there are limits on what is allowed and what is do-able for us to help with. Thus, whether a wish is in a dream or not, to be helped along by fae, it must be in accordance with what we can do. There is therefore much misconception about granting wishes.

And remember, the true Power of the wish really comes from within You. The Wishing Fairy is only the helper for wishes. And thus many wishes can be made to come true without her, if one knows How.

Questions for a book

I am going to write a book but I need clarification on some things. What is your dimension like? How exactly do you pass back and forth between worlds? What kind of faeries converse and mingle together? Thank you for your time.

[Ophelia Fey says] - Our dimension has many dimensions, or frequencies. Worlds within worlds, if you will. And so there are many, many variations, depending also on the element involved... earth, fire, water, air and so forth. Those areas that are closest to the planes of matter are very much like it, yet enhanced. A forest, for instance, in the realm of Faerie may at first seem quite similar. Until you adjust your Seeing, adjust to where you are, notice, go a bit deeper. Colors will seem more vivid. There will be colors that the human eye is not programmed with the brain to see (although, it is true, some can). Many things will seem to glow; their energy emanations can be seen. Light will seem different. There may seem to be a feeling of weightlessness, and a loss of the sense of Time.

Yet there are dimensions so deep within our world they are beyond the elements as you know them. Beings there would not take on form that you could see or hear through human senses. They are true "spirits" of nature.

Since nature beings (aka fairies) are forms of energy, we pass into other planes or "worlds" by changing our energy patterns. This can be understood somewhat if you have studied science.

Many types of different fairies can converse together. One only needs to be in harmony with the frequency that the other fairy is on... not a difficult matter for most. Those who are nearest to the earthly planes of say, earth and water, even fire, would find it quite simple. But those who are very far removed into the deeper dimensions -- to find and commune with them would take a certain knowledge.

I love your web site!
by: Olivia

I just want to say that I love your web site. I have been interested in fairies for a while now and I'm glad I'm learning about them from a fairy herself! I'm also thinking about writing a book about you all. I'm not sure what the story will be about though. Any ideas? Maybe the fairies take a human into the land of fairy or something? ~Olivia

[Ophelia Fey says] - Thank you, Olivia. As for your book idea, that is up to you! If you sit quietly somewhere and Ask, perhaps your Inner Self (and a fairy or two?) will send you an inspiration.

Fairies
by: Katie

This is not about a fairy book, but I keep looking up this question and I can't find the answer. I have two questions actually. The first one is: Are fairies scared of car noises because lots of cars are around us. And the 2nd question is: I made a fairy house 2 story high and I put a bed of flower petals, a rock covered with yarn, a baby bird egg. And the 2nd story has a zipline with another bed (for her friend), and I put her food up there last night. I put a strawberry in there and nothing ate it, not even a nibble. And I put milk out today and nothing was there again, so I don't know what the problem is. I can't even find any clues for fairies. And I have a pool with water falls and fountains and still nothing I even try talking to them but nothing happens. Is there a problem? I can't find any and I left a shiny penny out for them and they didn't take it. I have a dog and I'm afraid its because of her. What do I do?!? Because I really love fairies and I want to see one! Katie. Sorry for wasting your time, oh and P.S. I put my fairy house on a chair outside would they still come? Thanks.

[Ophelia Fey says] - Katie, the first thing you must do is relax. Nature spirits may be around you, but you are just not yet seeing them. Try to feel their presence. They are feeling beings. I find that many humans become very impatient if they do not succeed in seeing fae right away, and then they give up. It is hard to know why some people do see things and some do not. I know it is a matter of patience and quiet. Your fairy house sounds very charming, and it is fine for it to be outside. Do not be dismayed if you do not see outward signs of fairies partaking in what you have to give. They may be enjoying it all in their own way. It is true that the noise of traffic can sometimes put off those who life in nature. But it would have to be very, very serious traffic to keep absolutely everyone away. Your dog would not scare fae folk. After all, we are used to all sorts of things in the wild.

Thank you! Your website will be very helpful for the book I hope to write. Fairies are such a cool topic! I love this site!

[Ophelia Fey says] - I am very glad that you like this web site! I hope it brings good cheer to those who read it. It is so very wonderful to know that people are interested in writing books about fairies. May you all be successful and find a publisher.

By the way - did you know that you can publish your own book almost for free, yourself? It's called print-on-demand, and different places offer it. I have looked into this actually, for publishing in the human world. I was particularly interested in a place called www.createspace.com - I believe it is part of another place called Amazon. (Although I don't believe it is really in the jungle. Or in South America). You can check on it and see for yourself. It looks quite easy to do. But then again, many mortal things may seems easy to me. And then again, some are impossibly confusing.

Writing A Book
by: Sydney

Thank you tons Miss Ophelia! If I write a book on fairies and make it small so you can read it, will fairies all enjoy the book?

[Ophelia Fey says] - Most certainly. And actually, do not be too concerned about making it small. Many of us are not small at all you know. There are those who are, but many who are not, like myself. If you make a book the regular size, perhaps a bit smaller, we would all be able to enjoy it. And for those who are not familiar with your language, others of us will be happy to read it to them.

I am writing a book
by: jayleigh

This is good info. I am writing a book about you fairies.

[Ophelia Fey says] - Wonderful! I think it is very good that people are interested in including those of us from another realm. Remember to listen to your own inner promptings. I only know that which I know. There is ever so much more to Faerie than just one being such as myself could know about. And it may very well be that you will "tune into" a part of Faerie in your own way, to write about.

Question About Books
by: Anonymous

I have seen a fairy book I WANT, but don't know were to find it! And I might write a book but need a question to figure it out! Do fairies (like you) live in a door that transports from your realm to mine or other realms? Sorry if that one dose not make sense! (Do fairies live in the middle of your realm and mine?) Have you heard of a city called Ann Arbor?

[Ophelia Fey says] - Yes, I have heard of a city in Michigan called Ann Arbor. We do not really live in a door exactly. There are portals that allow us to move between dimensions. A portal is a kind of entry way, or door, or opening. So some of us live very close to where our worlds interconnect, and it is easy for us to move back and forth. In some places our worlds co-exist together. Otherwise, nature spirits can move and dwell very deep into Faerie, or a little ways in. It is hard to explain this, because it is not exactly a "place" but more of a frequency that is closer to you or farther. That is the best that I can explain it. So I hope it makes sense.
